KICKR ROLLR
The only bike trainer to merge Smart Trainer technology with the realistic ride feel of rollers.
Our iterative process of brainstorming, prototyping, and testing led to the design of a revolutionary new bike trainer. Riders get the engaging workouts of a smart trainer (measuring/responding to rider power output, riding in virtual environments, etc), without the bike being rigidly clamped in place. Instead, the bike floats on rollers and has the smooth side-to-side sway of road riding. This cushions the rider from the impact of their pedaling forces, making ROLLR the most comfortable smart trainer on the market. In-home testing showed that riders trained more often, and for longer sessions.
Bike mounting is a cinch: simply roll the bike in to train, and roll it back out for a road ride. That’s it. No removing a wheel or skewer, no tools, no greasy hands. This convenience overcomes a major mental barrier to training: set-up time. And since the only contact with the bike is the tires, there’s no risk of scratching your expensive bike.
ROLLR also obliterates the steep learning curve of traditional rollers (just google “roller fails”!). The front tire is supported by the wheel grippers so that a complete novice can ride it immediately.
The Visual Design Language is unmistakably Wahoo: tapering angles, sweeping bevels, finessed controls, and gloss/matte texture treatments on key touchpoints. There is no design excess – everything you see is integral to the function. ROLLR uses off-the-shelf extrusions as a cost-effective method of forming much of the structure. Molded parts are composite reinforced, and their detailing adds to the visual and tactile impact.
