NURO
Restoring confidence to patients suffering from Overactive Bladder Disorder.
The stress and embarrassment of OAB causes people to limit social and physical activity, damaging emotional and physical well-being. Neuromodulation is an established medical treatment to restore bladder control, but existing devices were bulky and expensive.
NURO changes the game by snapping directly to a standard ECG pad adhered to the patient’s foot. The system is entirely contained on the patient’s ankle during the therapy session, eliminating the tangle of wires and connections between patient and equipment cart. The streamlined user interface minimizes button presses and prioritizes critical information in large, easily readable numbers.
An important challenge was cost-reduction; we used a low-cost display, off-the-shelf accessories, and created a contained system that eliminates the need for constant supervision. As a result, the Medicare reimbursement is now attractive to providers, meaning that more patients with OAB will receive this life-changing therapy.
