NURO
Restoring confidence to patients suffering from Overactive Bladder Disorder.
Overactive Bladder (OAB) can significantly impact an individual's emotional and physical well-being, causing many to limit their activities and avoid social situations due to stress and embarrassment. Neuromodulation is an effective, FDA-approved treatment that helps restore the natural ability to control bladder function, but existing devices are cumbersome or require surgical implantation.
NURO is an affordable, non-surgical, office-based solution to deliver neuromodulation therapy. It snaps to a standard ECG pad, which is adhered to the patient’s foot. The system is entirely contained on the patient’s ankle during the therapy session, allowing freedom of movement and eliminating the need for constant patient monitoring.
We designed NURO to have a friendly and non-intimidating appearance. The streamlined user interface minimizes button presses, and prioritizes critical information in large, easily readable numbers.
Cost reduction was a key challenge. By utilizing a low-cost display, off-the-shelf accessories, and a self-contained system that doesn't require constant supervision, we were able to make the Medicare reimbursement attractive for providers. As a result, more patients with OAB can access this life-changing therapy.
