Providing surgeons with error-proof anchor delivery.

MedShape designed their Morphix bone anchor to provide superior anchor retention, even in osteoporotic bone. Our contribution was the design of a deployment system that enables intuitive and error-proof delivery of the anchor.

The device locks the sutures in side grooves which mimic the shape of the anchor, providing the surgeon with a critical visual indicator of the anchor orientation prior to deployment. The ergonomic design simplifies installation to a simple “tap in” delivery, reduces surgeon error, and enables accurate control. Additionally, we reduced part count and tooling dollars by making the front and rear housings the same part.

The Morphix system is a 2010 Medical Design Excellence Winner. Its success paved the path for a platform of shape-memory devices by MedShape Solutions.
